Sensei Andrew Jarema

Okinawan Weapons

Our Kobudo (Okinowan weapons) classes are for older youth students and adults.  You will be taught the use of the Bo, Tonfa, Sai, Nunchaku, and the Jo, leading up to 1st-degree Black Belt.  This training is fascinating and fun, and will enhance your Martial Arts training experience.  Our “Koburobics,” Kobudo done to music, will greatly increase your upper-body strength.

You will learn:

1) History, origin, past use and present applications.
2) Body stretching designed for Kobudo.
3) Strengthening exercise.
4) Body and weapons manipulations.
5) Stances, blocks and strikes.
6) Combinations
7) Traditional Forms
8) Bunkai (technical applications)
9) A cardio training system that will ensure top physical conditioning.

The classes are taught by Sensei Andy Jarema, who trains consistently right here in L.A. with Kyoshi Anthony C. Marquez, Sr., 7th Dan Black Belt and head of the style in the Americas.  Kyoshi occasionally leads classes at our dojo.

This style is called: "Kokusai Ryukyu Kobujutsu Kenkyukai."  This means "International Ryukyu Kobujutsu Association," but we'll stick with just "Kobudo."
